Kwara Coding and Digital Literacy Programme on Break, Resumes Sept. 22 for Exhibition Preparation; Ilorin and Igbaja Centres Secure National Finalist Spots.

In preparation for the highly anticipated Project Exhibition in October 2025, the Kwara Coding and Digital Literacy Programme has implemented a strategic adjustment to its Week 6 schedule. To accommodate the official resumption of the academic session, classes for the week were held only on Monday, September 8, and Tuesday, September 9.

This thoughtful rescheduling was widely welcomed by students, instructors, and school administrators alike, as it provided essential time for learners to transition smoothly into the new school term while maintaining momentum in their digital training. Despite the condensed week, participants remained highly engaged, utilizing the two-day window to deepen their understanding of key concepts and further develop their technical projects.

During these sessions, students across multiple learning centers continued to build proficiency in Python programming, web development, and innovative thinking according to their learning track. Their growing confidence was evident as they tackled more advanced topics such as data structures and responsive web design, demonstrating notable improvements in both technical comprehension and creative problem-solving.

With the October Exhibition fast approaching, programme coordinators have announced that coding classes will officially resume on September 22, 2025. This one-week break is designed to allow students to settle into their academic routines while also providing dedicated time to refine their projects ahead of the showcase. Instructors have been encouraged to maintain communication with students during this period, offering guidance and support as they prepare their submissions.

Week 6 also marked the rollout of post-evaluation exercises, conducted through a blend of online and offline channels to assess participant progress across all programme modules. These evaluations will help tailor ongoing instruction to better meet learner needs as the programme advances.

Building on a Legacy of Success

The current cohort’s progress is built upon the remarkable foundation laid by the 2024 Kwara Summer Coding and Digital Literacy Programme, which empowered hundreds of students across the three senatorial districts with cutting-edge skills. The programme’s impact is already yielding impressive results, as demonstrated by the recent success .

In a reflection to the quality of training provided, two centers from the 2024 summer programme secured finalist spots at the prestigious National Kids Innovation Challenge. The Kwara State Finalists are:

Agritech Mini Dashboard (IPF E-Library, Igbaja): A digital solution designed to empower local farmers with vital agricultural data, market trends, and resource management tools, potentially revolutionizing small-scale farming in Nigeria.

VBOT Innovators – Virtual Doctor Bot (Queen Elizabeth School, Ilorin): An AI-powered chatbot application that provides preliminary medical advice and health information, aiming to improve access to basic healthcare resources.

The Kwara Coding & Digital Literacy Programme continues to serve as a cornerstone of the state’s commitment to empowering youth with future-ready skills. Under the visionary leadership of His Excellency, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq CON, the initiative remains a transformative investment in human capital development—fostering innovation, creativity, and digital fluency among Kwara’s next generation.

Preparations are now fully underway for the October Exhibition, where students from the current cohort will showcase the projects they have developed, aiming to follow in the innovative footsteps of their predecessors.
