Kwara Free Summer Coding and Digital Literacy Program 2024

The Kwara State Government launched a free summer coding and digital literacy bootcamp for public school students in 2024, running from August 5th to September 18th, 2024. The aim is to equip students with essential digital skills and coding knowledge. 

Here’s an overview of the program:
  • Program Goal: To enhance digital literacy and coding skills among public school students in Kwara State. 
  • Duration: The program ran for six weeks, from August 5th to September 13th,  2024 with an exhibition, prize giving event held on September 18th, 2024. 
  • Target Audience: Students in public secondary schools across Kwara State. 
  • Focus: The bootcamp focused on essential coding and digital skills, preparing students for the digital future. Digital literacy ( first 2 weeks), students were then distributed into two groups 1: Web Development 2: Python Programming after a test was conducted. 
  • Organization: The program was organized by the Office of the Special Assistant to Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq on Digital Innovation, Hon. Kayode Ishola. 
  • Locations: The program was held across six centers in the three senatorial districts of the state. 2 from each Senatorial District.

  • Centers: Kwara Central: Queen Elizabeth School, Ilorin, GSS Afon | Kwara South: Offa Grammar School, Offa, GSS Omu-Aran | Kwara North: Etsu Mamman Junior Sch, Batapon, Ansarul Islam Sch, Gure 
  • Significance: The program aligns with the state government’s commitment to digital inclusion, innovation, and technological empowerment for the youth. 

  • Key partners: Kidstech Africa, WTEC, Nigeria Computer Society (Kwara State Chapter), Federal Ministry of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy.
