The Senior Special Assistant to the Governor of Kwara State on Digital Innovations, Hon. Ishola Kayode, has reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to advancing female participation in technology, praising young female innovators for demonstrating exceptional competence during the 2026 She Creates Summer Camp.
Speaking at the official closing ceremony held on Saturday, August 8, 2026, at the Ministry of Education & Human Capital Development in Ilorin, Hon. Kayode commended the Women’s Technology Empowerment Centre (W.TEC) for its sustained efforts in bridging the gender digital divide and empowering young girls with critical digital, creative, and entrepreneurial skills.
Themed “Designing Tomorrow, Today,” the intensive one-week bootcamp brought together over 16 young schoolgirls who engaged in practical learning modules covering Artificial Intelligence (AI), Internet of Things (IoT), Python programming, digital marketing, financial literacy, and career building in STEM.
Delivering his key remarks at the event, Hon. Kayode expressed pride in the technical depth and confidence displayed by the participants during their live project presentations, which featured real-world digital solutions including a emergency distress application designed to alert designated contacts during crises.
Highlighting a standout presentation by one of the young participants on digital skills, Hon Kayode gave a special commendation, noting that the depth of knowledge showcased signals a bright future for Kwara’s emerging technology ecosystem.
“Seeing these young girls present technological concepts with such clarity and poise is deeply inspiring,” Hon. Kayode stated during his address. “Their remarkable confidence and technical knowledge demonstrate that when given the right tools and platform, our young girls can stand at the forefront of digital innovation and drive solutions for societal challenges.”
He further emphasized that the initiative aligns with the vision of the Executive Governor of Kwara State, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq CON, to foster grassroots technological literacy and equip the state’s youth with future-ready skills.
“Empowering young girls with relevant ICT skills is not just about technology; it is about building sustainable socio-economic development for our state and nation,” Hon. Kayode added. “We will continue to champion, support, and collaborate with forward-thinking organizations like W.TEC to ensure every child in Kwara has access to transformative digital education.”
In a gesture of support for the initiative, Hon. Kayode made a financial donation to assist W.TEC in expanding its capacity and sustaining its goal of raising the next generation of female tech leaders in Kwara State.
