Week Nine of Kwara Coding and Digital Literacy Programme Highlights Strong Growth in Coding and Digital Skills

As the 2026 Kwara Coding and Digital Literacy Programme progresses deeper into the Third Term, Week Nine delivered another round of transformative learning across participating centres in the sixteen LGAs. This week’s delivery emphasized the integration of advanced coding concepts, digital literacy, and safety education, supported by the consistent weekly Training of Trainers sessions that continue to equip facilitators with current pedagogical and technical skills.

Week Nine saw students across centres take on a broad set of practical, high-demand skills. Senior classes worked with Python libraries, learning how pre-written functions speed up software development, and applied them to app building, data handling. Other students strengthened their programming logic by exploring the difference between for and while loops, and connecting those ideas to Scratch’s Repeat block and real-life repetitive tasks. Web development learners focused on HTML basics like title pages, headings, and paragraphs. In digital literacy, students practiced Microsoft Word skills such as creating cover pages, numbering pages, and styling WordArt.

Safety and responsible tech use also featured prominently. Students participated in sessions on cyber bullying awareness and core online security principles for general uses. These lessons are critical in building a culture of responsible digital citizenship among young Kwarans.

Adding to the momentum, students was the active engagement of students  showed strong engagement through peer support and practical application. Digital literacy students demonstrated confidence by assisting with practical tasks such as typing exam questions, while others showed steady improvement in applying new concepts to real projects.

Programme delivery was sustained by strong coordination throughout the week. Continuous needs assessment and operational reviews across centres made it possible to address challenges promptly. Alongside regular Training of Trainers sessions, these support measures help maintain high quality and consistency at every centre.

All participants remain grateful to the Executive Governor of Kwara State, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, CON, whose vision and support continue to open doors for Kwarans to build relevant digital skills and compete globally.
